To correctly search within the Life Fitness Knowledge Base a couple of guidelines need to be taken into account.
For example you can search for the words Discover, SE4 and Console in different ways:
Type into the search bar: | Search results explained: |
Discover SE4 Console |
OR Logic: Any article which includes the word Discover or SE4 or Console will be shown. Eg: it will show all articles with the word Discover. It will also show all articles with the word SE4. And it will also show all articles with the word Console. Of course it will then also show any article with any combination of those 2 or 3 words. |
"Discover" "SE4" "Console" |
AND Logic: Use double quotes (") around each word separately to find content that contains all those words in an article. Make sure you put spaces ( ) between the search words, otherwise the search handles the text as one string. Eg: "Discover""SE4""Console" will try to search for the word DiscoverSE4Console |
"Discover SE4 Console" |
Phrase AND Logic: Use double quotes (") around a phrase to find content that contains all the words in that phrase. It retrieves all content that contains the words Discover and SE4 and Console, in that exact following order only. Eg: It will ignore content where the words are shown in a different order, for example: SE4 Discover Console |
Discover SE4 -Console |
OR + NAND Logic: Use the minus operator (-) in front of the search term to find every article that does not include that word or phrase. For example, Discover SE4 -Console returns content containing the words Discover or SE4, and excludes those articles that also contain the word Console from the result set. |
"Discover" "SE4" -Console |
AND + NAND Logic: Use the minus operator (-) in front of the search term to find every article that does not include that word or phrase. For example, "Discover" "SE4" -Console returns content containing the words Discover and SE4 anywhere within an article, and excludes those articles that also contain the word Console from the result set. |
"Discover SE4" -Console |
Phrase AND + NAND Logic: Use the minus operator (-) in front of the search term to find every article that does not include that word or phrase. In this example: "Discover SE4" -Console returns content containing the words Discover SE4, in that exact following order only, and excludes those articles that also contain the word Console from the result set. |
Good to know:
- If you use single quotes (') around a word, the single quotes are ignored.
- You'll also get hits if there is a stemmed version of the word (e.g. Discovers/Consoles).
- The search will ignore capital letters. This means that when you search for Discover, dISCOVER, DISCOVER or discover, the search results will be the same.
- We're currently requesting our Knowledge Base provider Zendesk to understand if there is a wildcard function within the search to be able to search for incomplete words, or anything starting/ending with a certain (part of a) word.
Note: The preferred browser for Knowledge Base is Google Chrome.
