2/2/2015:
Apple’s move from the 30-pin to Lightning connector was part of a major architectural change for iDevices which is not simply a connector change. Much of the functionality that had been present in the 30-pin was either removed or changed form. For example, audio went from analog to digital.
Because of this direction, Apple has 30 pin to lightning adapters. Authentic OEM adapters manufactured by Apple have to be used since others are not supported and may receive errors. They are not just pin converters but include A-to-D (analog to digital) circuitry. With the Apple converter we do avail ourselves to what functionality remains in the Lightning connector.
Cybex does have plans to move from the 30-pin cable equipped on products, but plans to do so in a fashion that extends beyond just Apple. However because of the leap frog nature of technology, there will be no backwards compatibility for the changes within product.
Note: The iPod 30 pin connector was removed from the Cybex 790T, 77X, 62X Line on 8/1/2016.
