There are three methods of performing the Life Fitness Discover SE4 Console Software Update procedure:
- Method 1: At console when the Product is offline (USB Stick with minimum 4GB needed). Note: 3rd party apps are installed remotely where a network connection is required
- Method 2: At console when the product is online (Connected to Internet with correct Port settings to find Facility Connect Server)
- Method 3: Remotely when the product is online and registered to a Facility Connect account for scheduling, auto updates, etc.

Method 1 - Console offline (not online) SW Update Procedure:
- SW Update via Console USB
1. Power up the unit
2. Wait until the unit is properly booted to the Attract Screen
3. Download the SE4 Console software zip file from Product Software Release Center and extract the contents of that zip file on the top level root directory on any Windows formatted FAT32 USB stick.
- Note: The files contained within the zipped file are as shown in the image below, only the highlighted files are required to be saved to the USB flash drive in order for the SW to be updated on the console. It is a recommendation to also copy the .txt file to the USB drive, for quick reference, to know which console version is saved on the drive.

4. Insert USB stick into USB port in front panel. Note: Make sure the USB port spring loaded door is lifted and USB is fully seated.
5. The console auto-detects the software package and proceeds with the installation
6. Update process is approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
a. Base firmware will be updated during installation, if necessary
7. The system will return to the Attract Screen after the update completes
a. 3rd party apps are installed remotely and would be installed only if the product is connected to the network
8. See steps 10-13 below in Method 2 to verify versions after installation
Method 2 - Console online SW update procedure:

Software update initiated on console using System Options menu Software Updates section – internet connection to the console required
1. Select Language icon from Attract Screen to access the Select Language screen.
2. Tap the bottom part of the Select Language screen in the following sequence: Lower-Left, Lower-Right, Lower-Left, Lower-Right. Note: Make sure you tap INSIDE the Select Language black square screen.
3. Navigate through the System Options menu to Software Updates and press Update
4. OS image will be downloaded.
5. APK's will be downloaded
6. Either manually close System Options by selecting the X in the upper right corner to have the installation begin, or wait for System Options to close on its own, the installation will then begin.
7. Remote Installation begins. Copying Data, Updating OS, Unzipping APK's, and Software Installation. This includes installation of 2nd party apps; Chess, Solitaire, Sudoku, Browser. 3rd party apps (Example: YouTube, Disney+, Netflix, Pandora) are downloaded remotely, which requires an internet connection.
8. If necessary, Fitcore is programmed, which includes:
• Uploading firmware. (approximately 1:00 minute)
• Unzipping. (approximately 0:30 seconds)
• Programming Linux. (approximately 2:30 minutes – bulk of which occurs at 99%)
• Programming Lifepulse module. (approximately 4:20 minutes)
• Shutdown dialog will briefly appear before a final reboot.
9. System update ends on Running Man screen with spinning icon in bottom-right, followed by the Attract screen.
10. Verify software version by tapping the Select Language icon
on the bottom-right of the screen (next to the gear icon). The Select Language screen will appear.
11. Tap the bottom part of the Select Language screen in the following sequence: Lower-Left, Lower-Right, Lower-Left, Lower-Right. Note: Make sure you tap INSIDE the black square!
12. System Options will appear
13. Tap Information > Software Versions:
• Software build version will be at the very top of the screen.
• Android OS and Fitcore OS will be listed in the first column.
14. Once network connectivity is established and the console is on the Attract screen, 3rd party apps will be installed remotely. Which ones are enabled by default are defined in Firebase but can be overwritten in Facility Connect or in System Options.
• Installation or uninstallation will be noted in a dialog on the Attract screen, which can be canceled, if necessary.
• Installation or uninstallation would only occur when the console is idle.
